Bridesmaid Dress Up Games

If you have a friend or family member headed to the alter this summer, you’ll likely find yourself in a bridal shop soon to prepare for your role as bridesmaid. When helping a bride pick out bridesmaid dresses, keep in mind a few important factors.

Brides get to make the final choice. It’s important to remember that this is not your wedding and it’s not your time to shine per se. If you hate green, keep a lid on it. You might steer the bride toward a more flattering blue, but if she wants green, you’d better start loving green.

Bridesmaid dresses are rarely used again. There is a story that brides love to tell about the dresses being used again. This is a lie in most cases. Unless you are very, very lucky, your bridesmaid dress is unlikely to be useful for any other event you’ll attend with the exception of a cheesy dress up cruise dinner.

Enjoy your day to dress up. Even if you have to shell out more than you’d like for a dress you don’t even like, love the opportunity to dress up at least. Put on a pretty(ish) dress and do your hair. You’ll look great and feel great, too.
