Dress Up Games for the Holidays

The holidays are a fun time of year for dress up games. Not only are there holiday parties, there are also dances and just a fun spirit of adventure at school and work when it comes to fashion. While preparing for the holidays, take advantage of all the warm and cozy looks that are available.

Start with comfortable clothing you can wear to those family gatherings that are so popular over the holidays. Cords and sweaters or comfortable skirts and shirts are nice choices. Once you have the basic stuff covered, look into more formal clothing you might need to wear to a special event around the holidays such as a dressier dinner. A nice sweater set and black pants is always a good option.

Finally, if you’re lucky enough, dig back into your fashion finds to locate a killer formal to wear to a Holiday dance. The winter is an excellent time to wear a velvet gown or one with rich detailing, such as a dark corset and full skirt if you’re lucky enough to have a formal event to attend.

Dress Up Games with Friends

Dress up games are best played with others. Nobody like to play dress up games alone, and when you have your friends around, you can get even more creative with the games. The best dress up games are the ones you can use in the long term. For example, taking your friend to the mall in search of new outfits can make a terrific dress up game.

Grab your friend and head to your favorite store in the mall. Instead of browsing for one or two items, put together complete outfits. Look for a top and bottom that match and even pick up a few accessories so that you can see the entire look together when it’s time to try on. Take your friend back to the dressing rooms and each of you get dressed in your first complete outfit. When you’re ready do a little fashion show to demonstrate for exciting your look is. Repeat the process with the other outfit.

Decide which one you like better for you and your friend and then buy it. When you buy a complete outfit, you’re adding elements to your closet that you can really use – unlike random pieces that you might not be able to pull together.

Dress Up Games for Winter

Winter is around the corner and it’s time to get ready. If you’re not ready for the winter fashions, you still have a bit of time. And if you wait just a few weeks later, all of the winter fashion is likely to be on sale anyway as we get closer to Christmas. Finding the right gear for winter is pretty straightforward when it comes to dress up games.

Heavy bottoms. Your pants should be heavy. Buy them a bit looser if you live in very cold areas to accommodate a pair of long-johns underneath on those extra cold days. But cords, heavy khakis and jeans can all get the job done. Heavy skirts are an option, too. If you live in a mild area or are daring, you can still wear those short skirts, but grab some tall boots to wear, too.

Sweaters and sweatshirts. The best thing about winter are the bulky comfortable tops. No other season lets you drag around in a thick sweater and jeans and feel awesome. Throw on some serious boots and you’re not only style, you’re amazingly comfortable as well.

Warm pajamas. And finally, be sure your winter fashions includes a nice pair or two of heavy winter pajamas. You want to be warm and cozy when it’s cold and blustery outside. And a nice pair of pajamas is the best way to do exactly that.

The Dress Up Games Box

Many girls have the same concept in their playroom or basement. For that matter, many boys do as well. The dress up games box is full of hand-me-down clothing and costumes from Halloweens and weddings gone by. Playing with the dress up box was a thrill, especially when you had friends over.

The Dress Up Games Box
Inside the box were all of the outfits and crazy clothing that had been rejected over the years. These include those ugly bridesmaid dresses your aunt and mother wore and the funny masks you used for Halloween last year. If you’re lucky enough to have an older sister, you might get to play with her gowns and cheerleading costumes as well.

But playing dress up isn’t really about what’s in the box. It’s about how you use it. Digging through the box will lead you to all kinds of fun things and possibilities. Learn how to put together fun outfits and then introduce that crowd favorite – face paint – to truly top things off in a fun and wild way.

Why Girls Love Dress Up Games

Girls seem to the be the ones playing most of the dress up games, and parents encourage them to do just that. The pretty princess dresses complete with crowns and shoes are great and we smile to see our children wearing them. Why is this? It’s not just because our girls look so pretty and grown-up. It’s creative thought in action.

Children learn in the first two years how to play using their imagination. The more imaginative play they enjoy, the higher their creativity will be. Playing games such as dress up games is a complete activity in creativity. Why? Because the game doesn’t usually stop after the young girl and her friends get dressed up. It’s just the beginning.

Once dressed, the girls will assign roles and get to work creating an intricate plot of what will befall each of the characters in the drama. Perhaps they will all meet handsome princes. Or maybe the princesses are being kept in the tower of the evil stepmother and must escape. Whatever the story, you can count on it being dramatic and entertaining.
