Dress Up Games in Winter

As much as I like dress up games, I don’t like them as much in the winter months. I’m not a huge fan of the cold, and playing dress up in the freezing dressing rooms or having to look at my dry skin in the bright florescent lighting is not a big turn on for me. I’d much prefer to wait until summer when I have a bit of color on my otherwise pasty legs before trying on clothing, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. This winter I will hopefully be playing a lot of dress up games.

Why – you might ask? Because I plan to lose quite a bit of weight between now and then. I’ve already started cutting back on the junk food I eat and once I’m able to work in a plan to exercise and burn off some of the calories that have been hanging around for a while, I hope to start dropping a pound or two per week. If I can keep it up throughout the winter months, I’ll be losing rather steadily over time until I hit a new clothing size. And then I’ll have to play dress up games if I hope to actually fit into anything to wear to school. Rather than a pain, it will actually be a nice feeling to look at my now-thinner body in the mirrors – pasty skin or not!

A Hidden Benefit of Dress Up Games

There is money to be made in dress up games if you’re careful with your clothing. There seem to be more stores than ever that sell on consignment or offer cash for clothing that is in good condition. To make a few extra bucks, all you need to do is sell your clothing to one of these clothing resale shops. It’s simple – play dress up games at home.

To make some money, start going through your closet. As you handle each piece, consider how often you wear it. If it’s been a year since you last wore something and it’s in good condition throw it in the pile to sell. If your clothing is in pretty poor condition, you might be able to donate it or just recycle it into a quilt or rags for around the house. But even just selling five shirts and a pair of jeans that are too short can net you enough to buy a nice lunch. And you should never turn down what amounts to a free lunch.

Dress Up Games at Home

I think the best dress up games are the ones you play at home. When you go through your closet to dig out the old clothing you haven’t worn in a while, it’s a very cleansing thing, but it’s also a chance to rediscover some items you might have forgotten about. For example, I dug into the depths of my closet just the other day. I was getting ready for the traditional back to school shopping and pulled out all of my pants I had put away about this time last summer.

I gained some weight and the pants had been too small to wear comfortably then. I’ve lost weight recently so I went ahead and tried them on. The pants not only fit, but were more comfortable than the ones I have to keep yanking up into place as they slip down my hips. It was a nice victory for me in the weight loss department, but it was also a fun victory for saving money. With four new pairs of pants I forgot I had, I’m able to avoid buying anything new. Dress up games are definitely worth it.

Jeans and Dress Up Games

I love the different ways that jeans can be used to play dress up games. When you pull on a pair of jeans, you’re opening yourself up to a myriad of different styles and options. Jeans are the ultimate accessory for your wardrobe. They can be classy and cool or stylish and funky. They can be casual, working or lounging. The best part of denim is how easily it allows us to change our style by simply changing the items we pair with our favorite pairs of denim.

There are certain elements of jeans that must be taken into consideration. Jeans that are light in color, faded or torn will always be casual. Dark colored jeans and tailored trouser jeans will always be a bit dressier. So if you want to go to the ball game in your cap, t-shirt and jeans, you can do so in your light, torn jeans. If you’d rather go to the bar after work, you can dress up a dark pair of jeans with a draping top and bright jewelry. Shoes are the final element for a jeans wardrobe, and they go easily from tennis shoes and flip-flops to stilettos.

Dress Up Games and Hair Dye

I’ll admit I’ve always been tempted to dye my hair an outlandish shade, but I have never done it. What would it be like to walk into school next week with purple hair? Or perhaps be a bleached blonde with dark roots ala Madonna? This brunette has never even had highlights, so I’m not one to preach about hair color and dyes, but I think that the various colors and dyes available make for very exciting dress up games.

There are plenty of temporary dyes out there that wash out of your hair after a week or perhaps 6 weeks. I might have even tried to use one back in middle school, but it didn’t work. Dress up games are all about changing your persona and trying something new. Changing your hair color can be just as dramatic as changing your hair style. Being true to your inner you is a bold choice if it means dying your hair a wild color, but even if you do, you always have the option to revert back to your original color by letting it wash out with temporary dyes at least.

High Heels and Dress Up Games

One of the most entertaining things about dress up games is how easily you can enjoy the things you don’t normally get to wear. I have plenty of high heeled shoes, but I almost never get to wear them. I have a job that requires me to stand most of the day and wearing high heels puts a lot of strain on my feet – not great for someone who likes to be comfortable. What this means though is that the beautiful heels in my closet almost never get worn – unless it’s time for a dress up game.

Dress up games let you experiment with different looks and styles, and I always believe the best time to start these sorts of games is in your own closet. Look through your closet for clothing that is comfortable and fits well. Wearing something that looks stylish and comfortable makes you feel great, and often that outfit looks even better with a sexy pair of high heel shoes. Fortunately, I enjoy playing with the high heels at home with my dress up games since I rarely have a chance to wear them anywhere fun.

Dress Up Games and Lipstick

What is it about lipstick that makes it seem to grown up. Once upon a time when I was a little girl playing dress up games, lipstick was the defining make up item to wear to show that you were polished and dressed up. In fact, there are more than a few women out there who consider lipstick to be the number one essential item to wear when they rush out the door. Lips are noticeable and a bright lipstick or lip gloss is certainly noticeable. Perhaps this is why lipstick is such an integral part of dress up games.

When you’re playing dress up games, often the goal is to look grown up and mature. After all there are very few young girls who are dressing up like their baby sister when a hip teen sister is available to duplicate. Dress up games let you become whomever you like, and wearing lipstick is a key way to feel and presumably look a bit older. Does lipstick make a four year old look older? Not likely, but it is a fun way to let her express herself.
