Dress Up Games and the Office

I read an article in a popular women’s fashion magazine last week that made me a bit shocked and worried for young office workers out there. Already there is so little to help would-be professional women out in the office politics and games, but to get bad fashion advice on top of that is truly terrible. If you’re looking for the right things to wear to the office, you don’t need to look any farther than traditional dress up games.

In the article, women were told that slits in their skirts should not come any higher than their fingertips when standing. The same goes for length of skirt. There is a big problem here! Ask any female CEO or higher up how long a skirt should be and you’ll get one answer – below the knees. Wearing a short skirt can be very fashionable, of course, but it’s not at all professional.

This is one dress up game you can win if you’re going to plan ahead. Think of the classy looks pulled off by powerful business people. Skip shopping in juniors in your dressing games and go right to the power suits. You want clothing that fits well, is well made and modest. That is how you play dress up games in the office!

Dress Up Games and Long Hair

There comes a time for those of us who love dress up games to figure out what to do with our long hair. Every girl with long hair has gone through this phase – this is when you start asking questions like, “What would I look like with short hair?” and you decide that having shorter hair would be so much easier to control on a daily basis and style. But for those of us who love dress up games, having all of that long hair is actually something special – there are so many things you can do with it.

That’s not to say, however, that long hair can’t get on your nerves sometimes. It requires styling, of course, and long hair is often very heavy hair. If your hair is heavy, it’s hard to pull it up into a high ponytail or even a twist since the hair actually will break and pull. It’s best to wear it down, but that gets hot and sticky at times. Perhaps what we need to do when we reach this point is dedicate a few dress up games to simply figuring out what we should do with our long hair!

Dress Up Games and Comfort

There’s a strange paradox between dress up games and being comfortable. When we think of being comfortable, we immediately consider things like pajama pants and tank tops. But sadly the clothing that we usually wear for comfort doesn't transcend well into dress up games. But why do dress up games have to be uncomfortable? There’s no rule saying you have to squeeze into clothing you don’t actually like just to enjoy fashion. The best part of dress up games is finding the fashion that works best for you – and if you like comfort, your fashion should show that as well.

While there are plenty of new styles and fashion, it doesn't mean that you have to commit to any of them. If you don’t like the way skinny jeans fit, don’t buy them. You can be absolutely comfortable and still look adorable. Consider maxi dresses and skirts. Loose, comfortable and flattering for most of us, maxi dresses are easy to throw on around the house or out to the stores. Pull on some comfortable sandals and you’re good to good in the spring and summer. In the winter months, you can create a similar look with boots and long skirts – easy, attractive and comfortable dress up games.
