Preparing for Dress Up Games

Getting ready to dress up is just as important as what you wear. Imaging slipping on a pretty gown over a body that was just sweating a bit lugging in groceries or one with greasy hair. Being beautiful means preparing yourself completely before the dress up games begin. You can do this easily enough though by going through a few simple steps.

Take a shower – it’s obvious, of course, that getting clean before dress up games is essential. If you have the time and the luxury, go ahead and take a long luxurious bath. That way you’re relaxed as well for the games to come.

Groom yourself – pluck those stray lashes and pull your hair together in your usual style. You want to feel as though you’re fresh and clean with smooth legs, sweet smelling skin and hair that is at least under control in some way.

Dress up! – Finally, pull on that pretty dress and step into your shoes. It’s time for some serious dress up games. Enjoy!
 

Pep Rallies and Dress Up Games

I had the privilege of being at a pep rally today where the teachers were dressed up like total goofballs. I loved it. I think dress up games are among the most entertaining ways to get people fired up for athletic events or a big test. This particular pep rally was for a big standardized test the kids are taking next week. It might not have made much sense to the more practical of us, but putting one teacher in a cheerleader’s outfit and another in a modified football costume made for a fun afternoon.

The pep rally was led by the goofy teachers in their poorly fitted costumes. They jumped around doing fake cheers and splits and the kids had a great time watching them. Had the teachers been calm, stoic and serious, they would never have gotten the attention of the student the way they did. I’m convinced, as many pep rally organizers before me, that playing dress up games as part of a fun occasion like that is a great way to raise spirits and bring the entire school community closer together.

Dress Up Games at School

I can’t tell you how many people I see at school who have a hard time coming up with a style they actually can stick to. When it comes to playing dress up games at school, it’s more about what you’re feeling like wearing that day than anything else. The dress up games are simply a part of establishing your identity.

Wearing different styles to school on different days of the week lets you experiment with style in something of a safe environment. If you have a strict dress code at your school, you’ll need to be a bit more careful about what you’re picking out to wear and when, but for the most part, you can enjoy dress up games at any time. Just find something cute to wear and go after it.

If you love it, you’re in business. If you hate it, you don’t have to wear it again any how. If you can take the heat, your friends at school are some of the most determined critics as well letting you know how it really is.

Dress Up Games and Shoes

Personally, I think it’s amazing how much you can do with a pair of shoes. The shoes create the outfit to some degree, in my humble opinion. Consider dress up games, for example. When you’re digging around through all of your clothing options, have you considered finding the “perfect” shoes for this particular combination? Often there is more than one pair of perfect shoes in dress up games and the one you pick can make a dramatic difference in how the outfit looks overall.

Consider a pair of jeans and a cute white top. If you pair those jeans with sneaks, your outfit is absolutely casual and ready for a walk in the park. If you pair those jeans and top with strappy flat sandals, you’re ready for a casual car trip or a trip to the mall. But to continue the dress up games feet first, when you pair those jeans with a sexy pair of heels and a large belt, that casual or snappy outfit becomes downright sultry and you’re ready for the club. All by simply changing your shoes.

My New Favorite Dress Up Game

I have a new favorite dress up game. In the wide world of princess dress up games, I now have a thing for Princess Tiana. Of course she’s not much of a princess in the beginning of the movie, but a case of mistaken identity is perfect for dress up games. Not only does Tiana have some truly beautiful clothing in the movie, she’s also a very strong female character. Even when her mother encourages her to find her own “Prince Charming” and settle down in happiness, Tiana all but rolls her eyes and keeps on planning her restaurant dream.

She’s humble enough to be likable but tough enough to have everything together and really going for her. She’s not spoiled, she’s actually the only one in the latest Disney flick that works hard for what she wants without cutting corners or creating drama of any kind. It’s refreshing. It makes me wonder if there are already Tiana costumes out and available to buy for little girls. I’m feeling a need to buy one for my niece who will most definitely grow up to be a strong little girl.

Dress Up Games and Princesses

I have a thing about little girls playing dress up. When I buy a cute costume for a niece or the daughter of a friend, there are only a few of the token princesses that I will consider. After all, have you ever considered how many of the princesses that are included in dress up games are weak and overly willful? They require assistance from everyone and can’t seem to get things taken care of themselves. The favorite princesses – Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel are the worst – one needed seven men to support her, another waited for a prince to rescue her because she couldn’t contain her curiosity and another gave up her identity for a man. Don’t get me started on Cinderella and her dependence on a fairy godmother and mice.

Of the princesses, I have a handful I like and can readily respect. Belle, the fearless girl who took on an unworthy suitor, rescued her father and learns to love a man for his spirit not his looks is okay in my book. Likewise I encourage dress up games for Mulan and Jasmine. Mulan is a tough girl who goes to war in her father’s place although she is not technically a princess. Princess Jasmine keeps a pet tiger and bullies around Aladdin, her father and his trusted advisor more than a few times. Those are dress up games I can get on board with.

Dressing Up Again with Dress Up Games

Often we fall into a rut of style, even if we’re not trying to. I’ll admit that I was once a bit concerned with fashion and appearances. I wanted to look nice and I worked hard to put on a good, stylish look every morning. My hair was styled, my make up was on and my outfit was carefully planned. Yet as I grew older, I seemed to leave that careful attention to detail behind when I created a new look for myself – one that’s just a wee bit sloppy.

I don’t really care to look sloppy, but somehow it just happened. The hair went up and the make-up went away. The clothes got more practical than stylish and I just stayed there. Now I’m thinking more and more that I should use dress up games to find my way back into a stylish me. If I was once attractive and pulled together, how challenging can it be to get back to that point. My hope is that it won’t be a huge problem, especially if I start with one small piece at a time. After all, we should always work to put our best face forward.
